Frida had facial hair, one leg smaller than the other, a fractured spine, and, yes, a monobrow. She was a woman that could barely walk. She often used a wheelchair and could barely get out of bed, but her disability is what fuelled her luminous creativity.

Indeed, an incredible human being. The life of Frida Kahlo, the Mexican born painter, human right activist, feminist, artist, a storyteller an above all, a phenomenal woman.

Looking through history, Frida Kahlo is undeniably one of the most celebrated artists in the world whose past works continues to captivate the world. More than 50 years after her death, she is still being remembered as a heroine who through patience and perseverance even after suffering immense physical pain throughout the more significant periods of her life, stuck at her passion to fulfil her ambitions – surely a trait we could all do with!. What power and inspiration has resulted from the relationship of Frida Kahlo to the paintbrush.

Throughout her entire life, Frida found a way to take strength from within and worked assiduously in becoming her own muse. This self-discovery has contributed to the many stunning self-portraits we marvel today.

Concerning her physical disability, Frida was unapologetic. Interestingly, history has documented that Frida neither presented herself as someone else nor hid behind a façade or ever made excuses. She lived her life simply, and she was successful.
