Description
This abstract creation painted on canvas by Australian contemporary artist Franko is his interpretation of the Frida Kahlo original works.
The heart is the only human organ consistently represented in nearly every aspect of imagery representing the emotional and spiritual life of humankind. Through history the heart became a romantic symbol, synonymous with and home to the feelings of love.
It’s been designated the container of human feeling at their brightest and at their darkest: still the heart can be broken, offered, turned over, heavy with emotion, at times can be courageous and pure, and a part of it may even belong to others.
The heart pierced with an arrow variously represents the pain of love and sometimes a broken heart. The arrow is usually thought to be representative of Cupid’s arrow – Cupid being the mischievous Roman god of love and desire.
In “art at the heart” the heart is pierced with a paint brush symbolising this heart expressing “my blood is a miracle that, from my veins, crosses the air from my heart to yours.”
– Frida Kahlo
